The designer Greg Norman has gained a stellar reputation for building world-renowned golf courses while preserving the natural beauty and ecology of the lands. The sensitive Doonbeg site, with its spectacular dune fields, also demanded the eye of a links champion, making Norman an ideal choice.

His "least disturbance" policy in regard to the site has melded well with the award-winning approach to the environment that Kiawah Development Partners has demonstrated for many years on Kiawah Island. As one example of this approach, very few cubic yards of earth were moved to build this classic links course that plays along 1.5 miles of stunning Irish oceanfront.
