Dining

Members and guests have a variety of options when dining at Doonbeg. Whether it be a quick bite in the golf shop before your round or a multi-course experience in the Lodge, your meal is sure to be delicious.
Doonbeg called on renowned chef Tom Colicchio to lend his distinctive touch and style to the dining experiences at Doonbeg. Known for his inventive, bold American cuisine, the James Beard award winner is the force behind two of New York's most notable restaurants, Gramercy Tavern and Craft. Doonbeg Head Chef Aidan McGrath, who shares Colicchio's philosophy of highlighting fresh local ingredients, creates delicious, simple dishes, leaving the quality of the produce to enhance the experience.
Doonbeg offers several dining options, ranging from the formal (The Long Room) to the more informal (Darby's).
In the Long Room the day begins with a breakfast buffet offering:
Lunch consists of hearty soups, sandwiches and salads. Doonbeg's Afternoon Tea is served daily.
The dinner menu is à la carte, changing daily to reflect that day's purchases at the local markets. Various selections of local fish, meats such as Burren and lamb, soups, and salads are available. The wine list, which features many old favourites, showcases new offerings, giving guests a chance to broaden their horizons.
Darby's, a pub and restaurant, located at the golf shop, is more casual. A place for a quick meal during the day, pints in the afternoon, a leisurely dinner and, of course, the famous Doonbeg craic.
Breakfast in Darby's will focuses on quick items and gourmet egg sandwiches. Lunches are traditional favourites such as sandwiches, chowders, burgers, and fish and chips served in an innovative way. In the evenings, there are simple meals of roasted meats, pastas, and fish, along with some nightly special offerings from the chef.

White Horses Spa

The Irish have an ages-old colloquialism for the waves that roll into Doughmore Bay, calling them white horses, as their foam resembles horses' manes and tails. Doonbeg's White Horses Spa takes inspiration from the natural environment of the County Clare coastline.
Our treatments are designed to relax and renew, and our regenerative products use natural salts and seaweed to sculpt and nourish the skin. White Horses is the first spa in Ireland to use the acclaimed Kerstin Florian skin care range. Kerstin Florian was chosen not only because they use the highest quality ingredients, but also because we share their philosophy of "outer beauty, inner health," and the importance placed on a lifestyle of
healthy nutrition, regular exercise, psychological well being, and proper care of the face and body.
White Horses offers facials, including our signature Pearls of the Sea Caviar Facial providing the ultimate in hydration, and massages, such as the Voyager Massage, to relieve jet lag, and the Par Excellence Golfer's Massage, designed to address muscle soreness. Several body treatments are offered, using exfoliating scrubs and relaxing wraps. Our salon caters to all beauty needs, including manicures, pedicures, waxing, and make-up. The spa also offers a range of fitness opportunities, such as Pilates and yoga on the beach at sunrise and sunset.
Doonbeg called on Clodagh, of Clodagh Design International in New York City, to be the creative force behind the Doonbeg spa. One of the world's leading innovative designers and a native of Ireland, Clodagh has been in the design business for over 30 years. Her work can be seen in award-winning residential, retail, office, salon, and corporate imaging projects all over the United States, Europe, and Japan, including more than 80 Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salons and Spas. Architectural Digest named her as one of the world's 100 leading interior designers in 1995 and included her in its April 1999 special issue, "100 Years of Design." Interior Design magazine inducted Clodagh into its Hall of Fame in 1997.
