New White Horses Spa designed to free the mind

Doonbeg Golf Club

The Lodge, the centrepiece of the facilities at Doonbeg Golf Club in West Clare, features White Horses, a top class spa.

Both the Lodge and the spa opened earlier this month, along with its new clubhouse, pro shop, accomodation, fine food restaurants and bars. Created by internationally renowned, Irish-born designer Clodagh, White Horses has been named after the waves in the adjoining Doughmore Bay.

White Horses sees the introduction into Ireland of the Kerstin Florian range of spa products and treatments. Kerstin Florian, which is based in California, is a family run company which was set up in 1978 by Swedish-born Kerstin Florian.

Manager Niamh O'Reilly, who has a background in both business and beauty therapy, leads a team of highly qualified spa therapists.

White Horses has been specifically designed to "free the mind rather than clutter it." Much use has been made of subtle lighting and water while the facilities are complemented by a range of specially commissioned art pieces. Areas include steam and sauna deep soaking whirl pools with thermal mineral salts, showers, lockers, and vanities with custom cabinets and custom mirrors.

Three dry treatment rooms are replete with the provisions for manicures and pedicures. Facilities also include a wet treatment room, complete with striking ceremonial doors and bronze wood.

"This wonderful spa promises to be one of my proudest accomplishments, especially since it's situated in my homeland," said Clodagh.
