New Lodge at Doonbeg Golf Club
Features Clodagh-Designed Spa

White Horses, the spa in the Lodge at Doonbeg Golf Club, is a place of pleasure where world-worn senses rejuvenate. The Lodge and its spa, which debuted in May 2006 offers the ultimate in luxury and relaxation.

Designed by internationally renowned, Irish-born designer Clodagh, White Horses was named for the waves that roll into the bay, sometimes referred to as white horses, resembling the horses' manes in the foamy waves. The spa features stone and warmly toned Venetian plaster walls, wood and stone floors, kinetic lighting, antique beams, and vaulted ceilings. Service areas include steam and sauna, deep soaking whirlpools, showers, lockers, and vanities with custom cabinets and custom mirrors. Three dry treatment rooms replete with the provisions for manicures and pedicures.

Facilities also include a wet treatment room, complete with a Swiss shower, and a fitness room with striking ceremonial doors and bronze wood. In keeping with the designer's signature integration of the natural elements of earth, water, fire, and air, the walls of the fitness room are adorned with a continuous image of the beach at Doonbeg. The wild Atlantic countryside is reflected in the colors used to paint the spa. Plants adorn the interior, chosen to enhance the look of a space that is at once primordial and contemporary.

"My goal in every design is to engage and enchant the senses," Clodagh says. "I'm extraordinarily pleased with the way in which the design for White Horses achieves the objective, enabling total relaxation of the body and mind and full replenishment of the spirit. This wonderful spa promises to be one of my proudest accomplishments, especially since it's situated in my homeland, the place that first defined my own sensibilities and forged the way I look at the world."
