PRESS RELEASE

Travelers, Golfers, and Critics are buzzing...
The Lodge at Doonbeg Golf Club is Ireland's Ideal Luxury Destination

January 17, 2007

Take a crescent beach on a craggy coastline, pour in pounding surf, and then add breathtaking scenery, towering dunes, a truly great golf course and simply luxurious accommodation. Now, mix in a fair number of like-minded people from all over the world, a generous number of friendly staff, and then loads of interesting things to see and do. Finally, throw in a healthy chunk of Irish hospitality. Now, don't leave it very long and there you have it... Doonbeg Golf Club, the perfect holiday.

The Lodge at Doonbeg Golf Club...

Sitting on top of a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Skivileen River, and the surrounding countryside, this stunning stone building might give the impression that it has been around for centuries, but it hasn't. It's the same story inside. Full of old wooden beams, traditional fireplaces, classic mantel pieces, wonderful reclaimed oak and pine hardwood flooring, and a world of antique furniture, it could easily pass for a 250-year-old Manor House. If it were really that old it wouldn't be nearly as warm and cosy as it is. Comfortable, beautiful, and luxurious, each room is delightful and the attention to detail is extraordinary.

Accommodations...

Accommodation at Doonbeg is offered via Member-owned residences available for guests to use, much in the way they would a luxury hotel. Owners are an international crowd and hail from such far away places as Australia, Bermuda, the United States, Canada, and China as well, of course, as Ireland and Europe. This combination contributes to a wonderfully rich, convivial, and cosmopolitan atmosphere.

The accommodation at Doonbeg is of a spectacularly high standard. The 15 suites in the Lodge itself; many blessed with spectacular ocean views, are all remarkably luxurious, yet distinctly different. From one to four bedrooms, each is beautifully furnished, tastefully decorated and sumptuously fitted. They also have the added benefit, space and convenience of both a living room and kitchen.

Although the Lodge is understandably a popular place, there are others within Doonbeg Golf Club containing equally superb accommodation. Abutting the main Lodge and within the overall Lodge complex are the six Garden House Suites. Just beyond them are the seven Norman Suites and 28 Courtyard Suites, all of which have the spacious feel of country cottages complete with adjoining gardens. With polished stone floors, beamed ceilings, and wonderfully old fireplaces, the 41 Suites that adjoin the main Lodge offer both outstanding accommodation and a variety of views over the Skivileen River and surrounding pastureland.

Just a well-struck drive from the Lodge (just opposite the 17th hole), the Links Cottages are just as splendid and even more spacious, with the same painstaking attention to detail and concern for the highest quality.

Our Member residences offer you stylish sanctuary while at Doonbeg. Whether you take coffee or tea in the morning, have the occasional craving for crisps or chocolate, sleep with one pillow or four, your preferences will be accommodated with pleasure.

All suites and cottages have been designed for luxury and utmost convenience. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with large marble slab shower seats, heated towel racks, generous stone-topped vanities, and elegant English fixtures. Jacquelynne P. Lanham of Lanham Designs in Atlanta is responsible for the beautiful dˇcor throughout each suite and cottage. All of the suites have carefully considered interiors designed in a simple, elegant, and comfortable country style. Visitors will enjoy waxed stone, and richly colored wide-plank timber floors, timber casement windows; large fireplaces (with gas fires); state-of-the-art SieMatic kitchens with a Shaker flavor; carpets in natural fabrics and reclaimed wooden beams.

The rates change with the seasons, views, and room sizes, but generally range from a one-bedroom suite with a courtyard view at 221 euros to a four-bedroom suite with an ocean/golf view in prime season for 1,134 euros per night.

From your perch on the Atlantic, all kinds of adventures await. You can hike along The Cliffs of Moher and the Cliffs of Baltard to take in breathtaking Atlantic Ocean vistas. Visit The Burren, a vast limestone plateau that's home to plant species typically found only in other parts of the world, as well as many fascinating animals and birds. At the Burren Smokehouse, you can see salmon as it's freshly smoked, and visit the gourmet store for cheeses, wines, and, of course, smoked salmon for a countryside picnic. Also, don't discount the proximity to golf at Ballybunion and Lahinch, which are an hour and a half and a half hour drive respectively. The village of Doonbeg is just five minutes up the road from Doonbeg, offering an assortment of restaurants and pubs for vacationers to enjoy and unwind. Not to mention, the convenience of the Shannon International Airport is only about a 45 minute drive away

Back at the Lodge fine dining experiences masterminded by renowned chef Tom Colicchio await. Colicchio is the culinary force behind New York City's Gramercy Tavern and Craft. Also, enjoy White Horses Spa on your downtime. The spa offers lavish treatments to sooth the mind, body, and soul and was designed by the award-winning Clodagh.

Ask about the special accommodations packages such as the Links Getaway for golfers, the Family Getaway with activities included for the whole family, and the Couples' Getaway designed specifically with romance in mind.
